Nicholas Sparks is an American writer born on 31 December 1965 in Omaha, Nebraska, son of Jill and Emma Thoene Patrick Michael Sparks. The latter is dedicated to teaching.
In his youth and because of the profession of his father, Nicholas lived in different U.S. states, from his native Nebraska to Minnesota or California. Sparks
studied Business Administration at the University of Notre Dame, a Catholic school located in Indiana.
Nicholas met his wife Catherine Cole during Spring Break 1988. They married in July 1989 and lived in Sacramento. After being rejected by both publishers and the universities of law, Nicholas worked at various jobs over the next three years, such as real estate salesman, waiter, sales of products by telephone, and starting his own business. In 1992, Sparks began selling pharmaceuticals and in 1993 he was transferred to New Bern, North Carolina, where he wrote his first published novel The Notebook .
Nicholas and his wife currently reside in New Bern with his five sons, Andrew Miles, Ryan Cote, and Landon, and their twin daughters Lexie Danielle and Savannah Marie. Nicholas recently made donations to the High School New Bern High School and contributes to local charities and national. In addition, participates in the Creative Writing Program (MFA) at the University of Notre Dame by providing grants and advice for students.
